Samia Aquino’s general research interests are in Earth Sciences with an emphasis on fluvial geomorphology in the Tropical South America and the impacts of human activities on large fluvial systems. Currently, she carries out research in large fluvial basins such as the Amazon, Paraná and Araguaia.She received her BS in Geography from Acre University-Brazil in 1998, an MS in Geography from the University of Maringá-Brazil in 2002, and in 2007 received her PhD in Sciences from Maringá University-Brazil. And, was a fellow of CAPES-Brazil to develop postdoctoral studies at Duke University, and adjunct professor at the Department of Geology-East Carolina University.
