Posted: March 5, 2007
In accordance with the Texas National Weather Service offices and Colorado State University, Troy Kimmel accepted the position of State Coordinator with the Collaborative Community Rain, Snow and Hail Network (CoCoRahs). Kimmel will work to develop Texas University partnerships (including Texas A&M and Texas State University) as well as organizational partnerships (Texas Farm Bureau) to expand the grassroots private citizen precipitation observation network.
Kimmel believes this will be a beneficial partnership for the Department of Geography and the Environment, as well as UT Austin, as it will facilitate recruitment and involvement of more private citizens in this growing nationwide network of volunteer precipitation observers. Kimmel states that "this network will be instrumental for all Texans in the years ahead as we continue to deal with ongoing water issues."
