GSD: Transnational and Interdisciplinary Studies of Northern Europe
The Department of Germanic Studies announces a new major in German, Scandinavian, and Dutch Sudies (GSD).
- GSD is a new "area studies" major that focuses on the cultures nd societies of Northern Europe, looking past national borders to cover regional issues in new ways.
- GSD is transnational, flexible, wide-ranging, and interdisciplinary.
- It brings together many of the Department's current offerings (courses formerly listed under GRC, SCA, and DCH), consolidating them into a major with excellent skills development in reading, research, and writing.
- Lower-division language study (GER, DAN, DCH, NOR, SWE, YID) is also involved.
