Southwest Consortium Workshop for German History, Literature, and Society to held at UT Austin campus, April 16

Three professors from the University of Texas at Austin will be hosting a Southwest Workshop for German History, Culture, and Society on April 16, ACES 2.402. The event will bring together many scholars of Germany and Central Europe currently working and teaching in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.

Profs.David Crew and Tracie Matysik from the History Dept. are working with Prof. Kit Belgum of the Department of Germanic Studies to host this workshop. "In the short term, we hope the event will help us all to learn about what kind of work is being done by our colleagues and neighbors. Looking to the future, we hope as well that the event will lead to the formation of a working consortium in the region to facilitate teaching, scholarship, and general intellectual exchange," said Matysik.

All participants must be registered by Monday, April 4, 2005.

This event is being sponsored by the Departments of History, Germanic Studies, and Government, the German Academic Exchange Service; the Center for European Studies and the College of Architecture.
