Current Research: Caroline Ahlemann studied at both the University of Augsburg and at the University of Erfurt before coming to Texas. Before studying at Texas she worked as a High School teacher in Wanfried, Germany. Her scholarly interests include 19th-narrative literature and culture (from Romanticism to Early Modernism) as well as German-American immigration history. In her dissertation, Caroline explores the relationship of 19th-century German speaking novels and travel literature about Native Americans with documents from Texas-German immigrants settling in the Texas Hill Country. In 2006-2007, she is teaching 2nd-Year German and Outreach.
