Current Research: Kersten Horn's current research focuses primarily on the early modern period. His dissertation examines textual depictions of the Ottoman Turks in Lutheran and Catholic confessional literature during the early Reformation. He has presented regularly on this topic at national conferences, including the Sixteenth Century Society and Conference and the Renaissance Association of America. Other research interests include nationalism and national identity in the 19th century. Kersten has developed and taught a class on Brechtian drama, which included a student production of Brecht's ''Herr Puntila und sein Knecht Matti.'' He has also taught the German Outreach class as well as all levels of lower-division German and the graduate reading classes. He is currently the German program coordinator and Ingeborg M. Goessl Lecturer in German Studies at the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
