Research interests:
Foreign Language Learning and Pedagogy, German Applied Linguistics, Teacher Training and Supervision.
Courses taught:
Over the years I have taught all of the lower division German courses many times as well as GER 398T, our training course for new graduate student teachers, and GER 397P, our graduate seminar course on FL pedagogy. In recent years my focus has changed somewhat to concentrate more on the teaching of upper-division German students. I teach our Advanced German Grammar course, an introductory course on German syntax and morphology, and a conversation course that emphasizes vocabulary review and expansion.
Awards/Honors:
I have been honored to receive the President's Associate's Award for general excellence in teaching and the UT Dad's Association Award for excellence in the teaching of freshmen.
Recent Publications:
My two main publications center on the learning of German. The first, Deutsch zusammen, is a proficiency-oriented textbook for beginning students of German. The second, Deutsche Wiederholungsgrammatik, is a review grammar for advanced students. It is being published by Yale University Press and is due out in late 2007.
