Course Description

A survey of the origin and growth of the American constitutional system, with emphasis on the political and economic background. Primarily for pre-law students and government majors.

This course is an overview of American Constitutional Development. Through an analysis of U.S. Supreme Court decisions, we will study the development of the Constitution from the Marshall Court to the Rehnquist Court.

    3 hour examinations 65%
    2 short papers(2-3 pp) 20%
    Class participation and preparation 15%
