Course Description
The purpose of this course is to enable students to acquire information about Congress and the Presidency, and learn to evaluate the functioning of those two institutions according to canons of democratic theory. In other words, is it a course in citizenship as well as scholarship. The first third of the course covers Congress as an institution. The second third covers the Presidency as an institution. The final third covers individual Presidents. We will also give some attention to other relevant institutions, such as the media.
