This course is a comprehensive survey of the literature on international security. Topics covered include conventional security issues such as the causes of interstate war, grand strategy, alliances, and weapons. Also included are less conventional topics such as ethnic conflict, civil war, state-building, and extremism.
The written assignments are substantial. This course will be conducted as both lecture and seminar.
