Course Description

The course focuses on post-Soviet political dynamics, with special emphasis on the making and unmaking of major political institutions. The topics discussed cover such issues as the present conditions of the presidency and parliamentarism, political parties and electoral politics, the (un) rule of law and interest groups, political culture and mass behavior, federalism, regional and local government in Russia.
