Course Description
In this course, we'll read, discuss, and evaluate various theories of lawmaking in the modern Congress. We'll begin with how the legislative agenda is set, continue with how policy is made, and end with how the president disposes of congressionally passed legislation. All of the readings for the course will be contained in a reader (there will be no books per se). Each student will write 2-3 page response papers to course readings and one original 12 page research paper that will incorporate course readings.
