GOV 379S • Peace Settlements and the Global Order - HON - W

Course Description

CANCELLED Contains a substantial writing component and fulfills part of the basic education requirement in writing. Course number may be repeated for credit when topics vary.

CANCELLED Peace settlements end wars, and create the environment in which any future wars will take place. They also, over time, define the institutional structure by which human beings are governed. This course will examine the most important modern peace settlements, beginning with the Peace of Westphalia, in order to understand the process that produced the current global order and evaluate competing arguments about the institutional foundations necessary for peace.

Weekly Essays: 50% Final Exam: 50%
