Course Description
Fulfills first half of legislative requirement for 6 hours of American government. The purpose of this course is to acquaint you with U.S. national and Texas state government. You will be introduced to: a) conceptual tools for understanding government and politics; b) the constitutional and cultural bases for American government; c) the participants in and processes of American government and politics; d) the official institutions of U.S. and Texas government and politics; and e) the foreign and domestic policies of American and Texas government. Along the way we will try to put what we learn in historical and comparative context.
