Course Description
Contains a substantial writing component and fulfills part of the basic education requirement in writing. Course number may be repeated for credit when topics vary. This course is designed to give students an understanding of how surveys are developed, applied, and analyzed in the context of political campaigns. We will explore probability sampling in an attempt to demystify both the art and the science of polling. We will read a variety of works on different aspects of public opinion and polling and become familiar with the major issues in survey research. Students will learn how to read a poll and how to use the computer to access survey data sets.
