Course Description

Contains a substantial writing component and fulfills part of the basic education requirement in writing. Course number may be repeated for credit when topics vary. Upper-division standing required.

This course will focus on how to explain the occurrence of wars. It will investigate both the conditions leading to the initiation of wars, and those leading to their termination. Included under the latter heading will be a discussion of peace negotiations.

Grading Policy

approximately 12 written essays; a minimum of 2 pages each
