Enrollment restricted to Seniors; contact the department for permission to register for this course. Course number may be repeated for credit when topics vary. Contains a substantial writing component and fulfills part of the basic education requirement in writing. This lecture and discussion course will introduce students to concepts of leadership and will look at the application of those concepts, particularly in public and political leadership. The course also focuses on how leadership styles differ between men and women. Several state and local leaders, in a wide variety of fields, will be guest speakers. The class is aimed to enhance the leadership skills of current campus leaders and to encourage them to continue serving in leadership positions after graduation.
Attendance and Class Participation: 5% Class Preparation: 5% Paper (Leader Interviews): 15% Guest Lecturer Papers (3): 15% Major Individual Leader Paper: 45% Final Paper (summarizing class information and personal response): 15%
