Course Description
Course number may be repeated for credit when topics vary. Upper-division standing required. This course consists of three types of subject matter: Meta-politics: Explores questions about the impact of mass entertainment media on American culture, e.g. "What is television doing to our children?" Macro-politics: Explores questions about the impact of the entertainment industry on the American political system, e.g. "What are the arguments for and against the FCC's financial interest and syndication rules, and how are various interest groups attempting to influence the FCC to change or retain them?" Micro-politics: Explores questions about conflict within Hollywood, e.g. "What are the arguments for and against the colorization forces attempting to influence Congress to make laws according to their own preferences?"
