Course Description
Contains a substantial writing component and fulfills part of the basic education requirement in writing. Course number may be repeated for credit when the topics vary. The purpose of this course is to examine the political role of the Black church in the African American experience. Through the examination of the historical literature on the Black church, this course will critically analyze how the church, its leaders and members have used it to achieve the political goals of African Americans. Beginning with the introduction of Africans to America, this course will examine how the church has been integral in the development of African American political behavior.
