In conjunction with the Romani Archives and Documentation Center, the Center for European Studies is hosting a mini-symposium on Roma ("Gypsies") on the UT Campus on January 29th. The international one-day event will feature three speakers, Dr. Erika Schlager (Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe Counsel for International Law) Dr. Ethel Brooks (Romani Studies, Rutgers University) and Dr. Thomas Acton, MBE (Chair in Romani Studies, Greenwich University, London). A panel discussion will end the event and between presentations the two Romani artists, jazz pianist William Duna and flamenco guitarist Lolo del Carders, will entertain. In the evening Romani saxophonist Yuri Yunakov will perform with his ensemble in the Hogg Memorial Auditorium.
