Education: Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford University; M.A. in Political Science from Stanford University; M.S. in Public Policy Analysis from the University of Rochester; B.A. from the University of Richmond.
Research interests:
Professor Theriault specializes in American Politics. His particular interests are in the U.S. Congress, American Political Development, and Political History. His current research explores party polarization in the U.S. Congress.

Awards/Honors:
Professor Theriault received the Eyes of Texas Teaching Excellence Award in the Spring of 2005. In the Spring of 2006, he received the President's Associates Teaching Excellence Award.
Recent Publications:
He has published one book -- The Power of the People: Congressional Competition, Public Attention, and Voter Retribution (The Ohio State University Press, 2005) -- and numerous articles on subjects ranging from presidential rhetoric (Presidential Studies Quarterly) to congressional careers (Legislative Studies Quarterly) and the Louisiana Purchase (Social Science History) to the Pendleton Act of 1883 (Journal of Politics).
