Research interests:
Russell Muirhead writes on issues in contemporary political theory. He is now researching a book on the ethics of partisanship, and recently published on the moral meaning of work (Just Work, Harvard University Press, 2004). More generally, his research interests include democratic theory, American political thought, the Scottish Enlightenment, and political sociology. This year Muirhead is teaching Government "Ethics and Everyday Life," "Political Concepts" (the theory seminar for graduate students), "American Political Thought," and an undergraduate honors seminar on partisanship. Prior to the University of Texas, Muirhead taught at Harvard University and Williams College. He was educated at Harvard and Balliol College, Oxford.
