The Department provides a number of resources to assist students in finding appropriate employment as they complete their dissertations. The Department of Government has its own placement services for graduate job candidates. These include an up-to-date file of job listings, placement file preparation, and job search counseling. The University offers additional career planning services.
Many of our students pursue careers in university teaching and research. In recent years, the Department has placed students on the faculties of institutions such as Albion College, Bates College, Baylor University, Bogazici University (Turkey), Bowdoin College, Carnegie-Mellon University, Claremont McKenna College, DePaul University, Duke University, Loyola University of Chicago, McGill University, Michigan State University, Nanjing University (China), National Chengchi University (Taiwan), National Taiwan University (Taiwan), Ohio State University, Ohio University, Syracuse University, Trinity College, Tulane University, University of Akron, University of Arkansas, University of Connecticut, University of Dayton, University of Georgia, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Kansas, University of Louisville, University of Miami, University of Missouri, University of Nevada, University of Richmond, University of Tennessee, University of Virginia, University of Washington, Vanderbilt University, Wichita State University, and Williams College.
