Michael Dennis, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Government, has been awarded a $25,000 Dissertation Support Fellowship from the Social Science Research Council’s Eurasia Program. Grant funds are provided by the U.S. Department of State under the Program for Research and Training on Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (Title VIII), and will support Dennis’ project: "Attitudes in Transition: War, Displacement and the Roots of Political Violence in Chechen Refugee Communities” (though the working title is: "Chechen Refugees and the Politics of Violence"). Michael will report on his research next month, in the department's forthcoming newsletter.
