More Visibility for The Invisible Hand of Peace
Pat McDonald reels in another award

"The Invisible Hand of Peace," Associate Professor Patrick McDonald's debut book, has won another award. On the heels of winning the 2010 Jervis-Schroeder best book award, McDonald has been awarded the Joseph S. Lepgold Prize, given by Georgetown University, for the best book published on international relations in 2009.
The book examines how competitive market structures and private property affect the distribution of political power within states and shape decisions for war. The more that markets, not governments, determine the winners and losers of international trade, the less likely military conflict becomes. In short: capitalism promotes peace.
