Professor Gretchen Ritter's Book Chosen as Subject of Symposium at 2007 APSA Convention

Published by Stanford University Press, the book traces the evolution of the constitutional status of women and the role of the constitution and constitutional law in constructing the political and social status of women in American society. Ritter's book will be discussed by a number of political science luminaries, including Rogers M. Smith, University of Pennsylvania; Karen Orren, University of California- Los Angeles; Daniel P. Carpenter, Harvard University; Christine B. Harrington, New York University; and Eileen Boris, University of California, Santa Barbara.
Prof. Ritter received her Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has been on the faculty of Government since 1990 and has directed the Center for Women's and Gender Studies for 3 years.
