Posted: July 23, 2007
Writing in the July/August issue of Foreign Affairs
, the influential periodical of opinion on international politics, Trubowitz and his co-author, Prof. Charles Kupchan of Georgetown University, identify four aspects of a successful strategy for finding a new domestic equilibrium that would support responsible American leadership in the world. These include a more multilateral approach to international burdens, targeting terrorists rather than seeking regime change, rebuilding US "hard power," and restraining adversaries through engagement rather than force.
