HIS s321 • History of Rome: The Empire
The course is designed to cover the period from the murder of Caesar through the death of Constantine. The layout will be basically chronological, but laws and wars are by no means the only subjects covered. All aspects of Roman civilization will be discussed, the social, economic, the religious, even medical. So there will be talks on such matters as health and living conditions of Romans, the slaves they owned, the games and shows they attended, the gods they worshipped and the spread of Christianity.
