Course Description
This is a research seminar that builds upon either of two reading seminars: the "Introduction to Atlantic History" class (Spring 2008) or the "Atlantic in Global History" class (Fall 2008). You must have taken one of those two classes to take this one. Our goal is to create a forum in which students can write a publishable essay based on primary research, and we hope that some will use the class to refine their ideas about their future dissertations. While we will sometimes meet together as a class, most of the work will be done in individual conferences. Students should come into the class with a reasonably clear sense of the project they intend to work on.
