Course Description
A lecture and discussion course dealing with the historical conditions that led to the American Civil War: slavery, abolitionism, sectionalism, economic and technological transformation, and westward expansion.
Grading Policy
Two midterm exams and a final examination, which will be cumulative. Exams are the essay-type, with a few short-answer objective questions thrown in.
Midterms: 25% each Final exam 60%
