Course Description
The course will examine the relationship between human beings and the environment from a historical perspective. Each week students will read books and articles that consider different environmental topics, including the work of Rachel Carson (Silent Spring), the dust bowl of the 1930s, the conservation movement of the early 20th century, the impact of suburbanization on the environment, the modern environmental movement, and the environment and Native Americans.
