Course Description
This course focuses on the evolution of the western world in the period between the decline of the Roman Empire and the emergence of the Modern Age around 1500. We will concentrate especially on the interaction between cultures - Roman, Byzantine, Islamic, and European and explore a wide variety of political, social, cultural, religious, and intellectual developments to help us construct the story of development of our western traditions.
