Course Description
A practicum in the art of historical writing. Each student will bring to the course a work in progressa paper from a previous seminar, one or more chapters of a dissertation, an outline of an article or a bookwhich will be revised or developed into something closer to publication. Readings will include essays and chapters on writing, samples of the best in historical writing, and perhaps some problematic pieces. Students will critique one another's work. Guest speakers will include historians and other writers who will share techniques and insights.
