Course Description

This course is designed partly in coordination with Professor Ali Mazrui’s acclaimed video series, “The Africans”, together with other visual materials, lectures and discussions, to provide a broad understanding of key themes in African history and culture from earliest times to the post-independence era. No perequisites.

Grading Policy

Grades will be based on two short answer exams (each worth 10%), a mid-term exam (30%), two film reviews (each worth 10%), and a final exam (30%). Because of the nature of this course, class attendance is important.
