Dr. Juan Manuel Valdes of Lima, Peru

Institute for Historical Studies (IHS) presentes a workshop by Dr. Ann Twinam (Ph.D., Yale University, 1976), professor of history at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research and teaching interests include colonial Spanish America, early modern Spain, and the Hispanic imperial world. 

Her most recent book is Public Lives, Private Secrets: Gender, Honor, Sexuality and Illegitimacy in Colonial Spanish America (Stanford University Press, 1999). As an IHS fellow, Twinam will be researching the purchase of whiteness in colonial Spanish America.
