Master of Ceremonies: Prof. Alan Tully, Chair of the Department of History

Convocation Speaker: Joseph D. Jamail, J.D. University of Texas School of Law, 1953; B.A. History, 1950

Jamail is best known for his illustrious career as a trial attorney and his philanthropic activity. He has been especially generous to the university, most recently in 2008 giving $15 million to establish endowments in the School of Law and the School of Nursing. 

The football field, the swim center and several other university venues are named in his honor. Throughout his career, Jamail has been known for his passionate defense on behalf of his clients and his willingness to speak his mind.

Convocation Location: Bass Concert Hall (PAC)

Time:
6-7:30 p.m.

Graduating Seniors Info:
Students must arrive in academic regalia at the west-side loading dock entrance between 5:15-5:30 p.m.

Guests Info: Guests may enter the Bass Concert Hall from the south entrance (north from Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium). The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are not required.

Special Needs Guests Info: Guests in wheelchairs or with significant mobility challenges should arrive at 5:20 p.m. and go to the southwest side of Bass Concert Hall, so that they can be assisted to appropriate seating.
NOTE: If you or your guests need a signer (American Sign Language), we must be formally notified by noon on Monday, May 2, 2011.

Pre-Ceremony, Free Fun Event: Consider meeting your guests between 3-5:30 p.m. for refreshments at THE GREAT TEXAS EX-IT OPEN HOUSE at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center west of Memorial Stadium. They will be open all afternoon and it is just a three-minute walk to the Bass Concert Hall.
