Documentary film viewing of Tagut ("Fog"in Tashelhit), followed by panel discussion.

The movie, Tagut ("Fog"in Tashelhit) (17 minutes) by documentary film maker Melanie Reynard, follows the work of scholar-activist, Jamila Bargach, and the non-profit organization she directs, Dar Si-Hmad, as they launch a fog-collecting project in June 2011. Funded in part by the School of Advanced Research (SAR) and a Campbell Foundation Fellowship, Baruch sets out of help the women of Ifni and local Berber communities to obtain drinking water from the anti-Atlas Mountains. The objective is  to relieve women from the strain of fetching water -- which takes an average of 3.5 hours per day. For more information please see the trailer:

Dr. Erika Bsumek, who was involved with SAR efforts to fund the project, Dr. Benjamin Brower, a scholar of modern France and Algeria, and Emily Brownell, PhD graduate student in the Department of History, will be there to discuss the intersection between water, environment, and scholarship.
