Phi Alpha Theta presents a talk

David Neumeyer is a Professor of Music Theory and Director of Graduate Studies in the School of Music. Laura Neumeyer, recently retired, served as a Academic Adviser in Plan II Honors. The talk will cover the history of social dance in Texas, from the influence of German and Czech immigrants to the current scene in Texas dance halls today. It will also cover background on the development of the two-step and country western swing.A demonstration of the Texas two-step, triple two-step, swing, east coast swing, polka and country western waltz will follow the talk. Attendees will be encouraged to participate in the demonstration.
