Mon, November 20, 2006 • 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM • Sinclair Suite, Texas Union
Dr. Burns is most famous for her book, "Colonial Habits: Convents and the Spiritual Economy of Cuzco, Peru," and is currently working on a project that examines indigenous scribes, writing, and power.
She will be presenting a paper that explores the making of colonial archives. Focusing on the case of Cuzco, she will discuss the power relations that contoured the actual production of the documents we use to write colonial Latin American history. Dr. Burns' talk and paper are titled, "Making Indigenous Archives: The Quilcay Camayoc of Colonial Cuzco."
