Lecture on Civil War, followed by panel discussion and reception

Tue, November 18, 2008 • 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM • ATandT Executive Edu. and Conf. Center, Room TBA

Join us for the public debut of an exciting new publication series: The Littlefield History of the Civil War Era. This ambitious 16-volume publishing venture will cover the war from the earliest rumblings of disunion to Reconstruction and will be edited by University of Texas alumni Gary Gallagher and T. Michael Parrish.

Elizabeth Varon, Professor of History at Temple University, opens the series with her new book, Disunion! The Coming of the American Civil War, 1789-1859, in which she blends political history and cultural history to examine the ongoing debates over disunion that long preceded the secession crisis.

For additional information, please contact Eve McQuade, phone (512) 495-4363.

Free and open to the public.
