Ben Weiss is a third year graduate student in the PhD. program in African History at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also completed his undergraduate degree in History, Government, and African Development Studies. His current graduate work aims to understand the recent political and economic history of HIV/AIDS in southern Africa through interpreting older histories of sexuality transmitted diseases on the continent, particularly the syphilis outbreaks of the early 20th century.
