Claudia P. Rueda


Claudia Rueda was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley in South
Texas. She obtained her BA in history from Dartmouth College, where
her undergraduate thesis examined Catholic indigenous women's activism
in Chiapas. Her Master's thesis studied the Central American
Solidarity Movement as it operated in a poor black neighborhood in
Dallas, Texas.  She is now a 6th year grad student in the History
Department at the University of Texas at Austin. Her dissertation,
"Students of Revolution: The Student Movement in Somoza-Era Nicaragua,
1937-1979" traces the ways in which students became political
activists during the longest enduring familial dictatorship in Latin
