Frank Guridy's book Forging Diaspora: Afro-Cubans and African Americans in the World of Empire and Jim Crow will be published in May 2010.

People of African descent had diverse cultures and experiences and lived in different nation-states, he said, and “while having an understanding of their particular national citizenship, they also have had, and continue to have, a history of themselves, an identity that transcends the boundaries of a nation-state.”
