Madeline Hsu Wins Asian American Community Leadership Award

Madeline Y. Hsu, director of Asian American studies and associate professor of history, has been named a recipient of the Asian American Community Leadership Award for her contributions to the Asian community in Texas.
The award, sponsored by the Network of Asian American Organizations (NAAO) and the Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce, honors individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American communities, preferably in Central Texas.
In addition, the Asian Community and Education Foundation awarded $500 scholarships to three Center for Asian American Studies students: Tu-Uyen Nguyen, Lalini Pedris and Jennifer Tran.
The award ceremony, hosted by the NAAO and the Asian American Resource Center, was held at the Four Seasons on Saturday, Sept. 22. The event honored the history and accomplishments of Asians who enrich and transform the culture, society and economy of this state, shepherding its progress toward a more diverse and prosperous future.
