UT History Professors Jeremi Suri, Mack Brown Distinguished Professor for Global Leadership, History, and Public Policy, and Joan Neuberger, Professor of History and Editor of Not Even Past, responded to a recent study published by the National Association of Scholars (NAS), entitled "Recasting History: Are Race, Class, and Gender Dominating American History? A Study of U.S. History Courses at the University of Texas and Texas A&M University" (PDF).

The 64-page report claims among other things that American History courses taught at both institutions are overly focused on themes of race, gender and class. Professors Jeremi Suri and Joan Neuberger have written rejoinders on behalf of the UT History Department.
