Professor Ann Twinam is the recipient of this year's Edwin Lieuwen Award for the Promotion of Excellence in the Teaching of Latin American Studies. The prize is awarded by the Rocky Mountain Council for Latin American Studies

The Edwin Lieuwen Prize for outstanding teaching or the promotion of outstanding teaching for Latin American Studies. The prize may go to either an outstanding teacher or someone who has made excellent teaching possible with an outstanding text or teaching materials or video.

The Rocky Mountain Council for Latin American Studies is the oldest Latin American academic organization in the world. Formation of the organization began in 1953 at the University of New Mexico and the first annual meeting was held in 1954.
