Professor Canizares-Esguerra selected to be Senior Mellon Fellow
The John Carter Brown Library, at Brown University, has selected History Professor Jorge Canizares-Esguerra to become the library's 2009-2010 Senior Mellon Fellow.

This is an honor that since 1997 has been bestowed on only a handful of historians, including Jack Greene, David Brading, Carla Rhan Phillips, Felipe Fernandez-Armesto, and Rhys Issac.
Canizares-Esguerra will be working on a project on biblical narratives of colonization in the early modern Atlantic world, using Spanish, Portuguese, English, and French sources.
