Professor George Forgie receives 2nd teaching award from Silver Spurs one week after receving the Friar Society award

Dr. George Forgie of the History Department was surprised again on Thursday, April 15, during his American Civil War class to be presented with another teaching award from the Silver Spurs. This award again recognizes Forgie as an outstanding educator and comes with a cash prize of $6000.

Just one week earlier on April 8, Prof. Forgie was interrupted during this same class when he was presented with the Friar Centennial Teaching Fellowship Award. The Friar Society was established in 1911 and is one of the most prestigious honor societies at the univeristy.
