Course Description
This course is an introduction to generative syntax for graduate students. The course provides a foundation that will help students apply the basic tools of syntactic analysis to data from any language. Students will also become familiar with major empirical domains that modern syntactic theory is concerned with. Topics to be examined include: constituent structure, the role of the lexicon, X-bar theory, parameters, binding, functional categories, movement, locality, logical form.
