SALSA XX: Languages and Societies in Contact

SALSA XX: Languages and Societies in Contact, will be held this weekend, April 13-15 at the University of Texas at Austin. Keynote addresses will be given by Miquel Simonet (“Prosodic Plasticity in Language Contact”), Katie Drager (“Variation and Change in Hawai'i English”) and Pattie Epps (“Linguistic Diversity, Language Contact, and the Amazonian Puzzle”). Other talks will address lexicalization processes in Halkomelem Salish, 1980s Austin speech, the speech of a Houston transgender community, and sources of variation in Mongolian Sign Language.
